Sage Home Loans is a mortgage lender on a mission to make mortgage simple, and we are building a high-performance, high-accountability sales organization to do it. As Head of Sales, you will report to the CEO and own originations production. You will lead our sales leaders, own sales training and development, raise lead conversion, expand home equity (HELOC) volume, and make technology part of how our teammates sell. You are a proven mortgage sales leader who sets a high bar, holds people accountable to it, runs on data, and delivers the number the right way.
What You’ll Do:
- Own the sales number. Set aggressive annual and quarterly production plans, and hold every leader and teammate accountable to them.
- Lead and develop sales leaders. Build a high-performance, high-accountability culture: set clear expectations, coach to results, and make the hard calls on talent quickly.
- Own sales training and development. Build the training and coaching programs that raise performance and turn our sales strategy into execution, from onboarding and ramp to ongoing skill development for leaders and teammates, and measure whether they move production.
- Raise lead conversion. Diagnose where leads stall, from speed-to-contact to follow-up to close, and fix the process with data, coaching, and accountability.
- Grow home equity (HELOC) production by building the offer, the pipeline, and the leader and teammate capabilities to sell it, with clear targets and owners.
- Drive adoption of sales technology across the team. Make the tools part of how teammates sell and how leaders coach, and hold the team accountable for using them.
- Build and scale the team. Partner with People Operations and Recruiting on hiring plans, raise the talent bar, and fix retention and productivity where they lag.
- Design compensation and incentive plans with People Operations and Finance that reward high performance and the right production behaviors.
- Partner with Marketing, Operations, Capital Markets, and Compliance so sales growth is profitable, compliant, and clear to close at lock.
- Report to the CEO on performance, risks, and priorities with accurate data and a clear point of view.
What We’re Looking For:
- 12+ years of experience in consumer sales leadership, including 6+ years leading leaders.
- 8+ years of experience in mortgage origination, including direct experience leading direct to consumer origination teams.
- A record of consistently exceeding production targets while building high-performing teams that stay and grow.
- Proven results improving lead conversion through process, coaching, and data.
- Experience building or scaling home equity or HELOC production, or comparable product lines.
- A tech-forward mindset. You embrace new sales technology and have led adoption, not just approved the budget.
- Strong command of sales metrics and dashboards. You use data to find the problem, act on it, and hold people accountable to the numbers.
- Experience building and running sales training or enablement that changed how teams execute, not just what they know.
- Working knowledge of mortgage regulations and the compliance requirements that shape sales.
- Clear, direct communication with the CEO, peers, leaders, and frontline teammates.
- A high-performance, high-accountability leader. You set a high bar, hold yourself and others to it, debate openly, and stay coachable.
Compensation:
Total Cash Compensation: $200,000 per year + commission potential over 100%
This role is also eligible for Equity, which is offered separately from the total cash compensation listed above. Actual compensation varies based on location, experience, and qualifications.
