About this role at Jobgether

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an EMC/EMI System Engineer (SME) based in United States .

As an EMC/EMI System Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the electromagnetic compatibility, safety, and reliability of advanced satellite and aerospace systems. You will lead system-level electromagnetic analysis, evaluate interference risks, and validate spacecraft performance against demanding technical and regulatory requirements. Working across the spacecraft development lifecycle, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to optimize system designs and ensure mission readiness. Your expertise will help mitigate electromagnetic risks, improve shielding effectiveness, and maintain compatibility between sensitive payloads, antennas, and onboard electronics. You will also provide technical guidance, oversee verification activities, and contribute to engineering best practices across complex space programs. This opportunity offers the flexibility of remote work for eligible candidates, with relocation support available for qualified applicants from Europe and the United Kingdom.

Accountabilities

  • Lead system-level electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and electromagnetic interference (EMI) analyses for satellite and aerospace systems, considering mission requirements, spacecraft cavity geometry, and direct-current (DC) and radio-frequency (RF) coupling effects.
  • Perform conducted and radiated emissions and susceptibility analyses, including CE/CS and RE/RS assessments, to ensure compatibility with spacecraft and launch vehicle environments.
  • Conduct magnetic field analyses and assess spacecraft surface charging and internal charging effects to identify potential risks to sensitive electronic equipment and mission operations.
  • Evaluate spacecraft panel shielding effectiveness and recommend design modifications to mitigate electromagnetic interference and improve overall system performance.
  • Develop, review, and oversee EMC/EMI test plans, ensuring appropriate verification and validation strategies throughout the spacecraft development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, payload designers, antenna specialists, and integration teams to identify electromagnetic risks and maintain compliance with project requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership for EMC/EMI engineering activities, mentor junior engineers, and support the resolution of complex electromagnetic compatibility challenges.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain technical analyses, engineering reports, test procedures, and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure that spacecraft designs, testing activities, and verification processes align with applicable aerospace standards and industry best practices.
  • Contribute to system integration, qualification, and final validation activities to support reliable, mission-ready satellite platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline. A Master's degree or Ph.D. is preferred.
  • Between 7 and 10 years of relevant experience in EMC/EMI analysis, design, and testing for satellite, aerospace, or other complex electronic systems.
  • Strong expertise in system-level EMC/EMI analysis, including conducted and radiated emissions and susceptibility (CE/CS, RE/RS).
  • Demonstrated experience performing magnetic field assessments, surface charging and internal charging analyses, and spacecraft panel shielding effectiveness evaluations.
  • Proven ability to develop, review, and validate EMC/EMI test plans and verification procedures for aerospace systems.
  • Proficiency with electromagnetic simulation and analysis tools such as CST and FEKO.
  • Good understanding of satellite mission requirements, including frequency bands, payload architectures, antenna systems, and potential electromagnetic interactions.
  • Familiarity with relevant aerospace EMC standards, including MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, and ECSS-E-ST-20-07C.
  • Knowledge of spacecraft environmental effects and their implications for electromagnetic compatibility, electronic equipment performance, and mission reliability.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex electromagnetic interactions and develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear technical documentation and collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to mentor junior engineers while managing technical activities independently.
  • Legal authorization to work in Canada and eligibility to obtain the required security clearance. Candidates based in Canada, the United States, or Europe may be considered, subject to applicable work authorization and security…
